At Modiv EDU, accessible from modivedu.com and from the Modiv EDU platform, one of our main priorities is the privacy of the people who use our service. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to the platform, including information we collect when you create an account, submit work for Micro-Credentials, purchase a subscription or Credits, and use platform features.

Modiv EDU is a service of PE Venture Group, LLC, which is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.

Information We Collect

We collect the information you give us when you create and use an account: your name, the school and district you tell us about, your primary and any secondary email addresses, your password, and the profile information you choose to add. We also collect the work you submit for assessment (submissions, work samples, written reflections and other materials you upload), together with the assessment record and any Micro-Credential issued.

When you contact us, request a demo or sign up for updates through our website, we collect the information you enter in the form, such as your name, email address, role, school or district, and your message, together with how you found our website, as described under Cookies and Similar Technologies.

When you purchase a subscription or Credits, we collect payment and billing information as described under Payments below.

Log Files

Modiv EDU follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they use our website and platform. All hosting companies do this as a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring and exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. The purpose of the information is to analyze trends, administer the site, track movement around the platform, and gather general usage information.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Like most websites, Modiv EDU uses cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. We use 2 kinds:

• Strictly necessary. These are required for the website and the platform to work. They keep you signed in, protect the service from automated and fraudulent traffic, and support checkout. When you make a purchase, Stripe sets its own cookies and collects device signals on its checkout page in order to detect and prevent fraudulent payments.
• Analytics. These help us understand how the website and the platform are used, so that we can improve them. We use PostHog for product analytics. Its cookie gives your browser a random identifier that is shared between our website and the platform, and once you sign in, we connect that activity to your account and share your name, email address and role with PostHog. On our website, we also keep a record in your browser's local storage, for up to 90 days, of the page you arrived on, the site that referred you and any campaign tags in the link, so that if you contact us we know how you found us.

When you watch a video on the platform, our video host, Vimeo, may set its own cookies in the video player.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not let advertising networks place cookies on our website or the platform.

Analytics cookies are on by default. You can block or delete cookies, and clear local storage, through your browser settings. More detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers can be found at the browsers' respective websites. Some parts of the platform may not work correctly if you block strictly necessary cookies.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you buy a subscription or Credits, you are taken to a checkout page hosted by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's page and are never received or stored by Modiv EDU.

Stripe collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details, and processes them in order to take the payment, calculate any applicable tax, and detect and prevent fraud. Stripe sends us records of your payments and your subscription, which include your name, email address, billing address and, for some payment events, the brand and last 4 digits of your card. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe handles this information under its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

We keep a record of your purchases, your subscription status and references to the invoices associated with your account. The invoices themselves are held by Stripe.

Service Providers

We use service providers to operate Modiv EDU: payment processing, hosting and infrastructure, file storage, email delivery, customer relationship management, product analytics, and video hosting. These providers process personal information only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service to us.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to provide the platform and maintain your account; to assess submissions and to issue, display and verify Micro-Credentials; to process purchases, manage subscriptions, calculate any applicable tax, and detect and prevent fraud; to communicate with you about your account, your submissions and your purchases; to understand how the platform is used so that we can improve it; and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Where you have chosen to receive them, we also use your contact information to send marketing communications. Marketing consent is optional and is never a condition of using the platform.

How We Share Information

We share personal information with the service providers described above, and within PE Venture Group, LLC. Where your access to the platform is provided through a school, district or other organization, we share information with that organization. We do not share your personal purchases with it: your Personal Subscription, your personal Credits, your payment details and your billing records are not shown to the organization or its administrators. We also share information where you choose to display or share a Micro-Credential publicly, and where we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the security of the platform.

We do not sell personal information.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and the work you submit under your user profile for as long as your account remains active.

Billing and transaction records are kept for as long as required for tax, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes, which may be longer than your account remains open. Records of payment events received from our payment provider are retained for a limited period so that payment disputes can be investigated and resolved.

If you ask us to delete your personal information, we will do so, except for the records we are required to keep, in particular records of payments and invoices retained for tax, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes.

Your Choices and Rights

You can review and update your profile information at any time from your account. You can ask us at any time to close your account or to delete your personal information, subject to the records described above. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time; messages about your account, your submissions and your payments are service messages and are not marketing.

Age Requirement

Modiv EDU is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or to make a purchase. Modiv EDU is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and monitor their children's online activity. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and are never stored on our systems.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy carries a version number and an effective date, shown at the top. If we make a material change we will notify you and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated policy before you continue to use the platform. Minor clarifications will be published with an updated version number and effective date.
